dear sir,

i am writing to you with regards the alleyway/public footpath between albert road and asda in retford.

this regularly used footpath is not only untidy and dirty in the extreme but also represents a serious health hazard due to the amount of canine excrement that is constantly scattered around the place.

if the footpath gets cleaned more than once a year we count ourselves lucky.

after conversations with local residents i have been led to believe that the path is dirty due to the fact that no-one will accept responsibility to clean it the reason for this being that it is jointly owned by yourselves and british waterways.

i would have thought that this made it a joint responsibility rather than a task to be ignored and would appreciate your thoughts on this matter.

i will be contacting british waterways for their comments.

thanks in advance
