update : the wind farm has not been given the relevant permission to continue , this will not hopefully be the end of the matter though and the selfish actions of a few nimbys will eventually be outweighed by the overall good for the folks of bassetlaw. more as we get it.

as many of you will already be aware there is a wind farm proposed for crow holt , near grove village , east of retford.
it is being planned and constructed by RES (www.res-ltd.com)
the site will consist of 10 , three bladed , wind turbines with substation and stone access track.
overall it is expected to generate 53GWh of electricity yearly , enough to power approx. 12,000 homes which is equivalent to 27% of bassetlaws annual consumption.
we here at dn22black think this is a good idea , urgent action is needed to tackle the problem of global warming and dwindling fossil fuel supplies. if just four of these farms were built in bassetlaw then we would become self sufficient in electricity with minimal harmful impact on the environment.
there are many scare stories surrounding wind farms , but thats all they are , scare stories , the only real objection anyone has is on aesthetic value , and the NIMBY brigade are most vocal whenever a wind farm is proposed. i personally have been walking round grove area for a good many years and would actually view the turbines as an enhancement to the landscape at that point.
we alreday have our three power stations dotted along the trent , all of which are viewable from the high ground around grove ( pictures 1 , 2 ), and , whilst these may be a neccasary evil at the moment they could eventually become a thing of the past and gone with them will be the grey cloudy skys that are often seen hanging over retford quite often blocking out the sun on an otherwise fine day.
